Commune of Buttons, ABC Chardonnay 2021

Flag of Australia

Commune of Buttons began with a single dream between brother and sister, Jasper & Sophie Button, to continue as second-generation growers of grapes, the custodians of a piece of land called ‘Fernglen' - 70 acres of bush paddocks and vineyards in the Adelaide Hills at Basket Range. Their dream was to return to the place they had grown up in, to come home to explore new imaginings and opportunities that the soil and sun could conjure. ABC Chardonnay 2021 is taken from a vineyard bearing the same name, east-facing and a tiny 1Ha in size - only 2600 bottles were produced. The nose has notes of apples, pear and honey; balanced with savoury undertones and an earthiness from the clay/sandstone soil which also imparts a subtle minerality into the wine. The palate is balanced by a good bright acidity which again carries these mineral flavours into the long finish.
